All about the Nagarkot-Changunarayan Day Hiking.

Nagarkot-Changunarayan Hike is a fantastic strolling day hike on the edges of the Kathmandu valley, Nepal. In case you have only a day in Kathmandu and you are searching for a simple adventurous experience, Nagarkot Changunarayan trip is the best option. It gives you an escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.

It also takes you on a journey to experience marvelous scenery and cultural diversity. In this short hike, you walk through one of the ridges of Kathmandu Valley enjoying the view of the valley. The hike concludes with an exploration of one of the oldest temples of Nepal, Changunarayan Temple.

The Changunarayan Nagarkot Hiking starts with a drive to Nagarkot through the green fields along the jungle roads. The destination is Nagarkot hill station which is at an altitude of 2100 m from the sea level. It is popularly known for offering a distant view of different snow-capped giants.

We will further hike for around 3-4 hours on a trail with gradual downhill, crossing local settlements, and witnessing the majestic Himalayan views as well as different flora and fauna. The walks are fairly easy with gradual downhill and fairly level paths. It will take you around 4 hours to reach Changunarayan.

The temple is also known for being the oldest pagoda style temple in Nepal. Overall, the trip is fairly adventurous and is suitable for people from all the age-group. Nonetheless, hikers are recommended to follow the rules set by the guide as these hills can get dangerous at times. Spring season is considered the best time for this trek as it brings color to these villages with young animals and bright beautiful flowers everywhere.

Did a nice hike between the villages of Nagarkot ending in Changu Narayan temple. The walk was well worth it because you crossed many tiny settlements and villages where you could observe village life (e.g. Old lady making traditional rice wine, guy taking a nap in a temple, father kite flying with the kids, lady beating out soya beans, corn trying on the veranda of a house). You also got good views of Kathmandu valley as well. Pretty much anybody of any age can do this hike as it it pretty undemanding to the body thank you eternal himalaya was lovely trip
