Everest Short Trek is a trek especially for those travel enthusiasts who have less time for Everest Base Camp Trek. During this trek, you get to enjoy the Himalayan region with the beautiful Sherpa culture, ethnic lifestyle and cultural heritage.
This trek gives you the chance to trek through Sagarmatha National Park while enjoying the cultural opulence of Sherpa villages like Phakding, Namche Bazaar, and Tengboche.
The 8-day Everest Short Trek starts with your arrival in Kathmandu. You take a 40-minute flight from Kathmandu to Lukla and start the trek to Phakding. The trail is dotted with prayer flags, Mani walls, and spectacular scenery of the Himalayas.
Furthermore, the trail passes through Sagarmatha National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site which is home to a variety of flora and fauna. You will cross the national park en route from Phakding to Namche Bazaar. Namche Bazaar is the main trading hub of the region and one of the major highlights of this trek.
From Namche, trekkers can hike to Syangboche and enjoy the panoramic view of the snowcapped mountains like Mt. Everest (8,848 m), Lhotse (8,414 m), Nuptse (7,861m), Ama Dablam(6,856m), and many other mountains.
The next stop on the route is Tengboche where you can explore the lifestyle of the Sherpa community. The Tengboche Monastery is also the largest one in the entire Khumbu region and is the hosting ground for the sacred Mani RimduFestival.
On the way back, you spend some time in the traditional villages such as Khunde and Khumjung before retracing your steps walk back to Lukla. The highest altitude in this trek is around 3800m so anyone with moderate fitness can enjoy this trek. The best season for Everest Short Trek is from September to December and MarchtoMay.

Arrival in Kathmandu |1,300m
The trip begins with your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). Our company representative will welcome you at the airport. Then, you will be transferred to the hotel for your overnight stay in Kathmandu. There are no other scheduled events or activities today so, feel free to explore around the city on your own.
Sightseeing in Kathmandu
We begin the trip with the exploration of the UNESCO world heritage sites spread around the valley. Beginning the day, we head to the Swayambhunath temple with the tranquil environment and pleasant views of the valley. Then, we head down to the Hindu temple of Pashupatinath. Next, we journey to the Kathmandu Durbar Square where we can observe the ancient culture, art, and architecture. The day comes to an end with the monastery of Boudhanath along with the sunset views.
Fly to Lukla|2,840m|40 minutes flight| & Trek to Phakding|2,610m| 3 - 4 hours trek
From Kathmandu, you take a scenic flight over the high mountains to reach Lukla. The landing at Tenzing-Hillary Airport in Lukla itself is an experience of a lifetime. You meet the rest of the crew at the airport and start trekking downhill to your first destination, Phakding. You move ahead and join the main trail to the base camp at Chheplung and then, cross the Dudh Koshi River to reach Phakding, situated near Dudh Koshi River.
Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar|3,440m|5 - 6 hours
The trail follows the Dudh Koshi River and ascends through pine and cedar forests to reach Namche. The trail goes through Sagarmatha National Park for the rest of the trip after Monjo village. Once you reach Namche Bazaar, you can explore around Namche or hike to Syangboche to enjoy the majestic view of the Himalayas. Namche is a lively town filled with many restaurants, monasteries, and museums.
Trek from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche |3,860m| 5- 6 Hours
You continue walking uphill alongside Dudh Koshi River and pine and rhododendron forests to Tengboche. If you are lucky, you might spot Danphe(national bird of Nepal) en route. Upon arrival in Tengboche, you’ll visit the Tengboche Monastery, one of the most sacred monasteries in the region. It is also the biggest monastery and a major attraction in the Everest Region. You also enjoy the view of Everest (8,848m) and Ama Dablam (6,856m) in the backdrop of the monastery.
Trek from Tengboche to Namche Bazaar |3,440m|6 - 7 Hours
Today you leave Tengboche behind and retrace your steps back to Namche Bazaar. After a brief rest in Namche, you head for more exploration towards the traditional Sherpa villages of Kunde and Khumjung. Here, you can observe the village lifestyle, Sherpa customs, and traditions. You can also choose to rest and enjoy the Sherpa hospitality at the village.
Trek from Namche Bazaar to Lukla |2,840m| 6 - 7 Hours
This is the final day of trekking. You bid farewell to Namche and then descend alongside Dudh Koshi River. The trek will be long but you will enjoy it as you will be walking through rhododendron, pine, and magnolia forests. You walk pass many monasteries and Mani walls to reach Monjo and descend through the villages like Bengkar, Phakding, and Chheplung to reach Lukla.
Fly to Kathmandu | Farewell dinner
The weather in Lukla is quiet unpredictable so it is better to catch the flight early in the morning. A short flight from Lukla will bring you back in Kathmandu. After checking into the hotel, you can head out for some sightseeing or souvenir shopping. Later that day, you join the whole group for a farewell dinner hosted by the company.
