Pokhara is one of the top commercial tandem paragliding locations in the world. While paragliding, you will sit in separate harness with a pilot, totally free to enjoy the beautiful view and sceneries.
The flight takes place from the beautiful hilltop of Sarangkot with Annapurna Range in the skyline. Furthermore, you can enjoy the Pokhara valley with a bird’s eye view, beautiful lakes, and Annapurna and Machhapuchhre Mountains.
For the paragliding, we drive from Lakeside to Sarangkot. Sarangkot hill station is the take-off and takes you over the Pokhara Valley. A trained pilot will guide the paraglider for the entire flight duration. You can also fly the paraglide on you if you are an experienced paraglider.
For this purpose getting a flying permit from the civil aviation of Pokhara is a must. The permit will cost $45 and will last until 15 days. One can choose from 2 major categories: 1) a standard flight (30 minutes) and 2) cross-country flight. A standard flight costs you $75 and a cross country flight costs $110.
An additional charge of $17 is taken if you want to take GoPro footage (5 minutes long) of the adventure. Thermal plays a major factor in paragliding so the sun needs to have been out long enough for the earth to get heated. The sport is available all year round unless it’s raining.
September/October/November and February/March are considered the best time of year for paragliding. Autumn season is the best as thermal develops quickly and skies are clearer giving the best view of majestic mountain ranges.
Eternal Himalaya will secure your booking for this busy on-demand location and will take care of all logistics and accommodation for the paragliding. For more information, feel free to contact us for the Paragliding in Pokhara.
